Wuggle Story

 

In 2021, my life took an unexpected turn when my husband, Craig, was diagnosed with a degenerative disease of behavioral frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) at the age of 54. I realized that my life with my husband would never be the same. I became his full-time caregiver, and my four children lost the father they had known and loved. The overwhelming stress was emotionally, physically, and financially draining. I felt like my head was on fire with my mind reeling from panic and fear. I worried about my family’s future.

Finally, one night after years of not sleeping, I wrapped an extra blanket around my head and eyes. I felt more relaxed, and I slept! I had an epiphany. I needed to find something more practical to mimic this calming feeling. I shared it with my sister, Hillary, who helps me as a caregiver with my husband and she loved the idea. We brainstormed different designs with our family and Wuggle was born! When I put on my Wuggle at night or when I need to calm my mind, something magical happens. I immediately relax, my head is caressed, and my eyes are calm. I can turn off the stress and it is easier to fall asleep. In the daytime, I wear it to block out the light or help with a headache using the Wuggle heat/ice pack.

I started sharing the Wuggle with my family, friends, and doctors and they love it! I realized so many people struggle with sleep and anxiety daily, putting pillows and t-shirts over their head. Studies show how sleep and prioritizing your mental health is one of the most important aspects for preventing diseases. That is why we decided to make Wuggle available to everyone. Driven by Andrea's personal journey, Wuggle's mission is to support those struggling with calming their minds. Our mission is to give back to not only caretakers enduring similar challenges but anyone who faces the emotional changes that we all endure. A percentage of each sale goes towards supporting caretakers of FTD patients, Alzheimer's, and caregiver grants.
